HISTORY

Established in 2007, le Centre d’artistes Voix Visuelle is incorporated as
a not-for-profit, charitable organization. Located in historic Vanier near
downtown Ottawa, Voix Visuelle is set up as a artist-run francophone artist
centre with dual artistic and educational mandates.

Founded by two experienced visual artists, Shahla Bahrami and Cécile
Boucher, and with the support of BRAVO, Voix Visuelle began its first
artistic and educational activities in September 2005 under the name of
Lieu de diffusion BRAVO-Est.

In order to be a driver of a dynamic artistic community, Voix Visuelle
encourages a diversity of interactions and transformations favorable to a
creative process, particularly innovation in digital art.

In addition to creating relationships among francophone artists and synergies
around artistic and educational projects, Voix Visuelle allows for exchanges
with other galleries and artist centres provincially and across the country.
