\nThe Voix Visuelle artist-run centre is pleased to present the exclusive Ottawa premiere of
\nthe documentary HOW SHE DARES, a powerful and inspiring film celebrating courage,
\nresilience, and women\u2019s entrepreneurship.<\/p>\n
Filmed over the course of seven years, this documentary follows the compelling journey of
\nZoonie Nguyen, a Vietnamese-Canadian engineer turned business coach, alongside several
\nother immigrant women entrepreneurs who are turning challenges into opportunities and
\nbuilding thriving businesses from Montreal to Vietnam and beyond.<\/p>\n

PRESS RELEASE<\/span><\/p>\n (For immediate release, until July 15, 2025)<\/span><\/p>\n Ottawa, May 24 2025 \u2014 From\u00a0<\/span>June 10 to July 15, 2025<\/b>, the Centre d\u2019artistes Voix Visuelle will host the 12th edition of the exhibition<\/span> Voix Jeunes Talents: g\u00e9n\u00e9ration visuelle<\/i><\/b>, curated this year by \u00c9milie Chomik.<\/span><\/p>\n OPENING RECEPTION: Tuesday, June 10 at 5 p.m.<\/b><\/p>\n The exhibition is presented at the gallery as well as in virtual mode on Instagram and Facebook.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n ***<\/span><\/p>\n For the past 12 years, Voix Visuelle has been curating\u00a0Voix Jeunes Talents, an annual exhibition highlighting the creative energy of a new generation of digital artists.\u00a0The goal is to both support and elevate emerging talent by offering professional guidance and a platform to showcase their artistic practices.<\/span><\/p>\n Digital art\u00a0is a relatively recent discipline that includes any creative work that relies, either entirely or in part, on digital tools.<\/span><\/p>\n Since its origins in the 1960s with the rise of computing, digital art has been in constant evolution\u2014intimately tied to the rapid and relentless pace of technological advancement. The emergence of new media has not only transformed how art is made, but also expanded the possibilities for what art can be. Digital art is broad and diverse, both in the techniques it employs and the themes it explores.<\/span><\/p>\n Today, digital art is woven into the fabric of everyday life. For younger generations\u2014those born into a digital world\u2014it\u2019s second nature. With easy access to technology, digital tools have become a go-to medium for expressing their visions, emotions, dreams, frustrations and resentments.\u00a0Pixels are their voice, opening a window into their unique and powerful imaginations.<\/span><\/p>\n \u00c9milie Chomik, curator<\/b><\/p>\n Participating artists:<\/b><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n PRESS RELEASE<\/span><\/p>\n (For immediate release, until Mai 30, 2025)<\/span><\/p>\n Ottawa, April 3 2025 \u2014 From <\/span>April 17 to May 30, 2025<\/b>, the Centre d\u2019artistes Voix Visuelle will host the 19th edition of its International Digital Miniprint Exhibition, curated this year by artist Dyana Ouvrard.<\/span><\/p>\n OPENING RECEPTION: Thursday, April 17 at 5 p.m.<\/b><\/p>\n IMPORTANT: We will take this festive occasion to inaugurate the Center’s new exhibition space. The public is invited.<\/b><\/p>\n Presented at the gallery as well as in virtual mode on its website, <\/span>D\u00e9viations cartographiques<\/i><\/b> highlights works by 55 artists from the following 11 countries: Argentina, Belgium, Canada, France, Greece, Hungary, Japan, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal and Ukraine.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n D\u00e9viations cartographiques<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n At the heart of landscapes lies a territory that we have marked out with our hands, by maps. Imbued with paradoxes, passions and ideologies, these maps have always attempted to give concrete form to the abstract thinking of our world. They tell subjective stories of curiosity and often domination.<\/span><\/p>\n Precise knowledge of our territory is not enough to ease our relationship with the world. Where the known banishes all adventure, where maps, GPS and other navigational techniques mark a path where mistakes are impossible, artists are invited to reintroduce the uncertainty of the route, the lines of movement, the singularity of the territory\u2019s uses and the impressions left in memory, questioning, for example, the true nature of borders.<\/span><\/p>\n Thus, while the geographer relies on tangible data, the artist, freed from the constraints of accuracy, can decipher cartographic lines and negotiate their meaning. The artist\u2019s work reveals not only lived or dreamed narratives seen from different angles, but also the flows of ideas that have traversed the history of art. This exhibition therefore invites us to reflect on the power of the images conveyed by maps, these representations that mould our imaginations of spaces and their outlines. Effective April 1st, Ms. Ruth Egue will serve as Interim Executive Director, replacing Ms. Shahla Bahrami.<\/span><\/p>\n It is with regret that we announce the departure of Ms. Shahla Bahrami, Executive Director, who has masterfully led the Centre d\u2019artistes Voix Visuelle for nearly 20 years, a place she co-founded in 2005.<\/span><\/p>\n Her expertise and experience in artistic and administrative circles fostered the creation and development of the Center. She successfully completed the start-up, registration, structuring, operational, and networking phases. As Executive Director, she handled administrative functions as well as all tasks related to exhibition management, including programming, artist training, and services provided to school clients and the public.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Holding numerous degrees (Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts, Bachelor’s degree in Science, and a diploma in Mathematics), she is also recognized as an artist engaged in contemporary art, where much of her work explores the issues of women’s imprisonment and political violence, which she captures in the form of images and installations open to other cultural dimensions.<\/span><\/p>\n We sincerely thank her for her exemplary commitment over the years and wish her all the best in her future endeavours.<\/span><\/p>\n Born in Quebec and originally from the Ivory Coast, Ms. Ruth Egue has over 15 years of experience in event management, where she has developed unique expertise in coordinating fun and engaging activities for schools across Canada.<\/span><\/p>\n Her management career also led her to lead a Francophone community organization serving families in the Ottawa-Gatineau region, where she played a key role in establishing strategic partnerships. Through the Ontario-Quebec partnership, she helped strengthen the service offerings to Francophone communities in this region.
