\"\"<\/a>From November 6 to December 14, 2021, the Centre d\u2019artistes Voix Visuelle presented the 16th edition of its International Digital Miniprint Exhibition. The exhibition took place at the gallery as well as on social media.<\/p>\n

Curated by Dominique Laurent, Racines quantiques (Quantum Roots) brought together the artworks of 43\u00a0artists inspired by the quantum theory, which concerns the interaction of matter and radiation. The works, from Belgium, Canada, Greece, Hungary, India, Japan, the Netherlands, Romania and Ukraine, bear an energy signature independent of the creative process, which introduced viewers to the ultimate connection of the Self to the Universe.<\/p>\n

The opening of the exhibition took place on Thursday, November 11, from 4\u00a0p.m. to 8\u00a0p.m. at Centre d\u2019artistes Voix Visuelle. It should be noted that in order to respect health measures and social distancing, those who wished to attend the opening had to register here<\/strong><\/a>, where 25 minutes visit slots could be reserved. A proof of full vaccination against COVID (two doses) also needed to be provided. This was only in place for the opening. For the rest of the exhibition, visits happened the way they normally do.<\/p>\n

Cash prizes were awarded to the artists of the deserving works. The winners were announced on December 14 on social media and the Voix Visuelle website.<\/p>\n

September 11 to October 12, 2021<\/span>

\nSouriez, on vous regarde<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Souriez, on vous regarde<\/em> (Smile, we\u2019re looking at you) was the title of Gail Bourgeois and Pira Pirani\u2019s exhibition which took place from September 11 to October 12, 2021 at the Centre d\u2019artistes Voix Visuelle. <\/p>\n

The exhibition featured digital images tracing the ever-present eye of surveillance, including images that explicitly addressed surveillance, or the Cold War and the development of military intelligence. The exhibition was a reflection that revolved around the fact that social media and news media are in positions of power, like governments and multinationals.<\/p>\n

The duration of each visit was limited to 15 minutes, respecting health regulations.<\/p>\n

July – September 2021<\/span>

\nArtist residency in research-creation<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

From July 15 to September 4, 2021, artist Chantal Gervais took over the Voix Visuelle space to develop a 360 degree component video as part of a multidisciplinary project. At the end of her stay, she presented to the public the work she did during her stay.<\/p>\n

The artist\u2019s research was motivated by her fascination with the visual, audible and kinetic aesthetics of spinning using a spinning wheel, the making of a 360 video component allowing her to explore this fascination. At the heart of the project is the transformation process of her fifteen-year-old border collie\u2019s fur, recently deceased: the artist collected his undercoat for years with the intention of spinning it into wool. Furthermore, the themes of presence and absence, being and non-being, mourning and recovery, are addressed.<\/p>\n

The artist was in person at her presentation at the Centre d\u2019artistes Voix Visuelle on Friday, September 3 (11 a.m. to 1 p.m.) and Saturday, September 4 (2 p.m. to 4 p.m.)<\/p>\n

\nExhibition on Instagram<\/p>\n

\nOn July 15, 2021, was held the launch of the eighth annual Voix Jeunes Talents exhibition on Instagram<\/a>. This exhibition will allow the public to discover the work of young artists and to live a unique experience.<\/p>\n

The exhibition, titled D\u00e9fi unsplash <\/em>(Unsplash Challenge), challenged artists to reproduce freely-usable images from www.unsplash.com<\/a> as faithfully as possible. The artists were then invited to produce a diptych showing the original work on one side and the reproduced work on the other. The reproduced artworks reflect a fascinating exploration of the photographic processes and the creative spirit of the participants.<\/p>\n

The launch of the exhibition took place on Thursday, July 15, on the Voix Visuelle Instagram account<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>What is digital art? In general, digital artworks are created from a computer or use it to directly produce an aesthetic experience. Digital art is also at the heart of the mission of the Centre d\u2019artistes Visuelle, which wishes to honour the work of some of its members through this virtual exhibition.<\/p>\n

Curated by Raymond Aubin, the exhibition brings together the works of Nicole Blundell, Frances Caswell-Routhier, Ren\u00e9e Chevalier, Monique Handfield, H\u00e9l\u00e8ne Lefebvre and Richard Robesco. The works were chosen based on the quality of the aesthetic experience, the validity of the theme, the research effort and the quality of the explanatory text.<\/p>\n
